The CrypTool Project at FrOSCon 2026 in Sankt Augustin
On the weekend of August 15 and 16, 2026, this year's FrOSCon (Free and Open Source Software Conference) took place in Sankt Augustin, Germany. The conference was organized by the Department of Computer Science at Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences together with FrOSCon e. V.
In beautiful weather, more than 200 visitors and over 40 exhibitors gathered at the spacious premises of Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences. Over the two days, the program featured parallel talks in seven tracks and workshops in two tracks.
The CrypTool Project was represented with a workshop and its own booth. On Saturday morning, Dr. Doris Behrendt held the workshop "RSA-2D and other CrypTool RSA web apps". The 15 participants took the opportunity to ask numerous questions and engage in a lively exchange.
The booth was set up on Friday by two people and staffed by four people throughout the event, all of whom traveled to Sankt Augustin at their own expense.
The booth sparked numerous conversations with visitors, some of which were particularly enthusiastic and engaging. In this way, the CrypTool Project not only helped visitors gain a better understanding of cryptography, but also made new contacts. At the same time, the event gave several members of the CrypTool team the opportunity to meet in person and discuss current topics as well as future developments of the project.
Overall, FrOSCon 2026 was a successful event for the CrypTool Project and a great opportunity to present the project to a technically knowledgeable audience and engage with many people.
