The first milestone of JCrypTool was published already in 2007 by the long-time project lead, Dominik Schadow. What happened since then?

  • Over 100 individual people dedicated their time to making JCrypTool better. Many thanks to all of you!
  • More than 5,000 code changes (commits) have been made.
  • More than 300,000 lines of code make up the code base.

In 2018, the decision was made to make all parts of JCrypTool consistent and to improve its usability. After 9 milestones (which are already used productively for teaching), we are proud to present today the result: the stable release version 1.0. We hope you will enjoy it!

PS: JCrypTool is open source and free.
